This project works toward drawing the residents of Joochiat out of their houses with the hopes of re-instigating the once was “kampong-spirit” (where “home” was not physically bounded, but rather, extends into the community).

The inspiration for the form of the building is drawn from the mode of circulation within the immediate surroundings of the site – each volume orientated to parallel the linear axiality of the routes traveled.

Drawing the urban connector into the building aims to integrate the circulation of residents through the site with that of the community centre, blurring the lines between personal and community space hence invoking the “kampong spirit”
