PRIMER 1
Using transition and rhythm as keywords, the models portray certain qualities that make them directional – be it linear (as in the first model) or circular (as in my second model). Gradually, the direction turned angular in my third model where though the keywords remain, the layout of the planes and sticks are all completely different.
The numbers 1,2 and 3 which are part of the Fibonacci sequence was what inspired the idea of separating the planes into 1 individual plane, 2 interlocking planes and 3 interlocking planes respectively. The two remaining planes were then used to segregate the three parts to help bring out the uniqueness of each individual ‘part’.
Volumes were then added to highlight and amplify the denseness of the ‘parts’ as the number of interlocking planes increases. To draw the attention to the ‘parts’ and help amplify them, the planes used to separate the parts is chosen to be transparent. The white acrylic volumes and the brown (the only other color that’s present besides white) wood sticks are the stuff responsible in making the ‘parts’ stand out as these are the few that stands out against the backbone of the model made of PVC board.
